The second play, and one that sees alot of use at pickup, I'm calling the Kriss Kross, a variation of the 1-2.
The basic difference is that, instead of taking a straight line, the two forwards switch lines before a pass and then a shot. The basic idea is, first, that it's harder to cover a player when they're moving around the court, and second, to possibly confuse any defenders. Again, good coverage will neutralize this play, but with an unwary or slow defense, there's a good opportunity for a shot.
A well timed and accurate pass under the bottom bracket works well with this one.
ReplyDeleteall of these plays are a million times better with a lefty!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the opposite this play seems geared towards Right handed players. Unless you are talking about the Lefty being in position 3?
ReplyDeleteWell, I think with the BB shot, it's definitely a righty righty play, but if the lefty is in position 1, they can pass more naturally to the left, although they might be covered more for that?
ReplyDeleteI think if player 1 was a lefty they wouldn't be able to use their bike to keep between the defender and the ball. Player 2 being a lefty would be possible if they could control the ball quickly after the pass and shoot across their front wheel.
ReplyDeleteYeah player 1 would have to pass before they were challenged really.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much agree, more of a righty righty play overall.
